Welcome to Our Church

from Pastor Jacqueline Hannan
Reverend Jacqueline Hannan

Some of you have come to this web site looking for a church home, some of you are trying to find a Presbyterian Church home, and many of you are already members or friends of this church family. It does not matter what your reason is for being here this day, we are pleased to welcome you to a small slice of our church life.

The Reverend Jackie Hannan has been Presbyterian all her life. She has served in churches as a youth and as an adult. Jackie entered the ministry after a number of different careers.

Jackie was called by First Presbyterian Church, Boca Raton, to be their Christian Educator. While serving in this position, she realized God had been gently but consistently calling her to ministry. During this time she met Jim, her present husband. In 1991, they packed up Jessica, Jamie, and Christina to go to Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia to see what God had in store for them. The seminary experience was a confirmation that God was calling Jackie to the ministry.

In 1994, Jackie accepted a call as Associate Pastor of Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church in Lufkin. The next 14 years would be rich in experience and opportunities. In addition to the Associate Pastor position to which Jackie had been called, she also served as Acting Senior Pastor/Head of Staff when the senior pastor became ill.

In 2006, she completed Interim Pastoral Training at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary to help the Lufkin congregation prepare for a new pastor. From 2006 through June 2008, she served as the Interim Pastor for First Presbyterian Church, Lufkin. At this point, Jackie decided that God was calling her to move on.

“God has led me down a path that has never felt lonely or deserted. I have felt that God has held me in the palm of his strong hand. Even through some very tough times, I have always known that I was not making choices alone. In the years that I have served in ministry, I have always felt that this was exactly what I was supposed to be doing. God has called me where I belong.”

In her time at Atascocita Presbyterian Church we have enjoyed spirit filled growth. Most notably we have been able to build a dedicated sanctuary which is the fulfillment of a dream for many of our members. Jackie is committed to strengthening the congregation in Word, Thought, and Deed. “As a friend once said to me “‘APC is full of busy bees,” that is we are always doing something whether it is in the community or in the church. We do not let moss grow under our feet. This year we have been able to add a full time Director of Youth Ministry and a part time Director of Children’s Ministry. We are a young and vital congregation! JOIN US IN MINISTRY!

I would say the one common thread between everyone who arrives at this place is that you are searching. Searching for information; church worship times, church related events. Or maybe you are trying to find a place to have others pray for your life concerns. Whatever the reason we are glad that you are here. Take time to look at our site, see all the activities that we are doing and find one or two that seem to meet your needs.

We strive to be a welcoming community of individuals who come together in Christian love and in that unity call ourselves, Atascocita Presbyterian Church. Stay a while and then come visit our family on Sunday morning at 8:30 am or 10:30 am.

We would love to see you and share our love of Jesus Christ.
