Session
Atascocita Presbyterian Church has 12 session members that have been elected and called to serve as officers and leaders of the church (elders). Together with the ministers of the Word and Sacarament, elders are called to exercise leadership, government and discipline, and have responsibilities for the life of Atascocita Presbyterian Church, as well as the church-at-large, including ecumenical relationships.
Brent Colescott – Elder, Communication and Personnel – Class of 2010Brent joined APC in 2001 and as has been active with Facilities and Construction. He has worked at Administaff for 10 years overseeing their online training systems. What he loves about APC is the people. He and wife Tara have three children; Austin 7, Addison 4, and baby Ainsely. |
Gary Denmon – Elder, Adult Ministry – Class of 2010Born in Beaumont, TX, Gary, along with wife Sandy and their two sons, joined APC in early 2007 after visiting for many months. They have lived in the area for about ten years, and he has worked with FedExKinkos for twelve years. He enjoys time with family, golf, painting, and movies. |
Charis Nees – Elder, Personnel and Outreach – Class of 2010Charis joined APC in 1998, and has served as a Deacon, a high school Sunday School teacher, and with the Interfaith Hospitality Network. She is the owner of Copy, Post, & Ship, and enjoys her family, sewing, baking, and sailing. She is married to Will. What she loves about APC is the amazing ability for the church to overcome obstacles and differences while continuing to show the love of God and the love and support of each other. |
Dana Rowan – Elder, Mission – Class of 2010Dana began attending APC in 2005 after moving to the area from Midland, Texas. He sings in the choir and has worked with youth and mission ministries as well. He spends most days working in downtown Houston as a geologist. What he values in APC is welcoming community that understands its call to minister to God’s people in a needy world. He is married to Cheryl, and they have three children. |
Connie Brown – Worship – Class of 2011Connie has been a member of APC since the early 80′s. She started attending John Calvin in Humble before it split to form Atascocita and Kingwood Presbyterian churches. While at APC she has served as a Chancel Choir member, Food Coordinator for IHN, a member of numerous committees, and as a participant in special project activities. She is currently serving as our Communion Preparation Coordinator and as a member of the Worship Committee. She enjoys being a member of the Knitting Circle as well. |
Allan Griffin – Youth Ministries – Class of 2011Allan is a native of Humble. He grew up in the First Baptist Church of Humble and became a member of Atascocita Presbyterian Church with his wife, Janet, in the 1980′s. Both his daughters, Laura and Holly, were baptized here. He is ordained as a Deacon and has served on many committees and as a teacher for Adult and Confirmation classes. He sings in the choir and is a frequent substitute for missing handbell ringers. I believe God has great things planned for the community of faith we call APC and I am very excited to be a part of that. |
Pete Nazarko – Facilities – Class of 2011I grew up in East Lyme, a small rural town in Conneticut. Graduated college in Virginia with a degree in education and taught elementary school for 3 years before moving to upstate New York for a job in private industry. Moved to Houston in 1979 from Albany, New York. Worked for CenterPoint Energy for 25 years. Currently working for Trelleborg CRP, Inc. Married to Charlotte Nazarko for 33 years with one daughter, Kristen, currently a student at Stephen F Austin University. I enjoy reading, riding horses and travel. |
Dolly Smith – Children’s Ministries – Class of 2011Dolly and her family joined APC in 1988. Ordained as an elder in 2000, she has participated in and served on numerous committees within the church including the Nominating Committee, Christian Education, Worship and Music Committee. She has been a counselor in Humble ISD at Timbers Elementary for 32 years. She and her husband, Craig have been married for 32 years and have one daughter, Lindsay. What she loves about APC is the wonderful people that she has met and the friendships that have been formed. |

Julia Ann Moffett – Class of 2012Julia Ann – a native Houstonian – comes back to the area after being away almost 50 years. She taught school in Houston, Austin and San Antonio, Texas for a period of 10 years. She served as a PC(USA) Mission Co-worker in Central America for 5 years and then worked in the General Assembly Offices as Coordinator for Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean for 12 years. Julia Ann is so pleased to be part of the APC community that nurtures and challenges her as she continues her faith journey. |
Jane Moore – Class of 2012Jane was raised in Northwestern Arkansas. As a life-long Presbyterian who has lived in several areas, including several in the greater Houston area, she has belonged to a number of Presbyterian churches. Jane is retired from ExxonMobil where she did accounting and systems work. She enjoys bridge, quilting, painting, reading—everything but exercising. |

Maureen Allen – Clerk of SessionOrdained as elder at St. Paul Presbyterian Church, Houston and always active in the financial world of the church. Joined APC in 2006 after becoming active in the Seniors and Friends Group. Fell into the job of treasurer/clerk of session and grateful to still be of use during retirement in a church that offers so many opportunities to participate in worthwhile projects and learning possibilities. Widow of Presbyterian pastor and mother of two daughters, plus being owned by a wonderful dog. |
It is the duty of elders, individually and jointly, to strengthen and nurture the faith and life of the congregation committed to their charge. Together with the pastor, they should encourage the people in the worship and service of God; equip and renew them for their task within the church and for their mission in the world; visit and comfort and care for people. They should inform the pastor and session of those persons and structures which may need special attention which may need special attention. They should assist in worship as requested and cultivate their ability to teach the bible.
Reverend Hannan joined the staff of Atascocita Presbyterian Church in September 2008. She is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors degree in Elementary education. She attended Union Theological Seminary, in Richmond Virginia and received her Masters of Divinity.
