Ike Impact
Well, it seems that Ike has certainly left his mark upon our lives. I know that most of us are living without electricity, phones, gas, and in fact I am not sure how many of you will be able to read this letter but I do know that prayers are being offered on our behalf from people all over. Often, in the inconvenience of the times we find the strength of our faith and the value of a church family, for prayer and care. We will have worship on Sunday and hope that many of you will come to be a part of this time of prayise and worship. As many of you know the Galveston area has been devastated. Westminster Presbyterian in Galveston is unable to have worship so I have invited the Pastor, Reverend Barrett Ingram, and any members who are in the area to join us for worship. As Christ told the disciples in Matthew 6:34 “So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Let’s concentrate on what we can do today, who we can visit or call, who we pray for, how we can use ourselves to reach out. Can we volunteer at HAMM, can we bring a sandwich to someone who cannot get out, can we stop by and offer comfort to a friend who is scared because they are alone. I do not know the vast talents and opportunities so I am depending on each of you to be the hands and feet of our Lord at a time when that is what we can do. When all else is failing in our lives let us turn to God, who never fails us. God is good, all the time!
